Making their first steps in French a happy memory.

Learning French while having fun
Learning a foreign language takes time and patience — I know that from learning Japanese myself! At Les Zamis, what matters most is helping children discover that French is fun.
We encourage them to understand, try and communicate without being afraid of making mistakes. Lessons are adapted to each child’s age and level, creating a relaxed environment where they can enjoy learning and start using French naturally.
Learning through experience
Children learn languages more naturally when they can take part and experience things for themselves. Through games, drawing, crafts, songs, stories and even making comics, they have plenty of opportunities to reuse the words and expressions they learn in class.
Because I also work in illustration and graphic art, I have created many of the visual materials used in our lessons. These make new or difficult concepts easier to understand, remember and, most importantly, enjoy.
In our group lessons, we also like to go beyond the usual language-class format. One example is cooking. At least once in each learning module, the children cook or bake something together. They learn the names of ingredients, listen to instructions in French, ask questions and communicate with one another. The activity itself becomes part of the French lesson — and of course, everyone gets to enjoy what they have made afterwards!
We also include a little snack break during group lessons: a relaxed moment for the children to chat, unwind and simply enjoy being together.
Interactive lessons and keeping parents informed
We also use an interactive whiteboard during our lessons. With illustrations, games, practice activities and other digital content, children can take an active part in the lesson while having fun.
After each lesson, we email parents a summary of what was covered on the interactive whiteboard. This makes it easy to see what their child has been learning and how they are progressing.
The Les Zamis Method — French learning that continues at home
In 2026, as Les Zamis celebrates its 16th anniversary, we are introducing the Les Zamis Method, an original digital learning programme created for children attending our group lessons.
It gives children a fun way to continue at home with the French they discovered in class. They can revisit what they have learned, continue activities and stay naturally connected with French between lessons.
The idea is not to turn home into another classroom. Children can explore at their own pace and come back to French whenever they feel like doing a little more.
After many years of teaching children, one thing remains especially important to us:
When learning is fun, you want to discover more.
The more you discover, the more you want to try.
And little by little, French becomes a language you enjoy.
That is the spirit behind the Les Zamis Method: supporting each child as they learn and grow at their own pace.
